Lost CIA-Classified Book Predicts Earth's Apocalyptic Fate Every 6,500 Years

A book that was once hidden by the CIA, titled The Adam and Eve Story and authored by Chan Thomas, has recently resurfaced after over fifty years, sparking renewed interest in its alarming predictions. Combining elements of ancient history, geology, and apocalyptic prophecy, Thomas’ work describes devastating catastrophes triggered by geomagnetic pole reversals—periodic flips of Earth’s magnetic poles that disrupt the planet’s natural equilibrium. Although the scientific community has largely debunked the specifics of Thomas' theories, the book’s dramatic storytelling and the fact it was once classified by the CIA have contributed to ongoing conspiracy theories and public curiosity.

Thomas’ Hypothesis: Catastrophic Cycles on Earth

The central idea in Thomas’ narrative is that Earth experiences catastrophic upheavals every roughly 6,500 years due to geomagnetic reversals. He argues these cycles cause repeated global disasters, including events reminiscent of legendary accounts such as the Biblical Great Flood. In this framework, humanity faces periodic extinction and must rebuild civilization anew after these cataclysms.

In the introduction titled The Next Cataclysm, Thomas remarked:

Add Cosmo Herald as a Preferred Source

Like Noah’s 6,500 years ago… Like Adam and Eve’s 11,500 years ago… This, too, will come to pass.”

He tied these cycles to abrupt changes in Earth’s magnetic field, which he claimed triggered huge earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, massive tsunamis, and extreme climate disruptions. He pointed to archaeological evidence of sudden, worldwide shifts in climate and geography, though experts remain skeptical of such interpretations.

Scientific Perspective on Geomagnetic Pole Flips

Geomagnetic reversals are indeed real but rare phenomena in which Earth’s magnetic field gradually weakens and flips its polarity. However, these events do not occur as frequently or with the destructive power that Thomas suggested. According to NASA, the last full magnetic pole flip happened about 780,000 years ago, with some minor partial reversals since then, none of which have been connected to widespread disaster.

NASA explains:

The magnetic field weakens but doesn’t disappear. The atmosphere and magnetosphere still protect Earth from cosmic rays and solar radiation.”

Contrary to Thomas’ claims, these reversals do not cause rapid movement of Earth’s crust. The crustal displacement theory he proposed lacks evidence and plausibility, as such dramatic crustal shifts would require impossible amounts of energy beyond known natural processes.

Depictions of Earth’s Potential Catastrophe

Thomas’ book offers vivid portrayals of the global devastation he believed would accompany a pole reversal, including:

  • Enormous earthquakes: He envisioned violent tremors shaking California’s mountain ranges, leveling cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, and causing large-scale land collapses or burying areas under debris.
  • Gigantic tsunamis: One passage details a wave over two miles high sweeping from the Pacific Ocean across North America, destroying everything in its path.
  • Sudden continental shifts: Thomas proposed the Earth’s crust would abruptly move, changing the location of continents—for example, turning the Bay of Bengal into the North Pole and relocating the Pacific Ocean near Peru to the South Pole.
  • Widespread destruction: These effects would not be isolated to one region but would impact continents globally, with ground ruptures, volcanic activity, and other massive disruptions.

According to Thomas, these events would happen within hours, leaving little opportunity for survival or preparedness, and resulting in a “reset” where surviving humans must reconstruct civilization.

The CIA’s Secrecy Around the Book

The reasons behind the CIA classifying The Adam and Eve Story in 1966 are still unclear. Some speculate the agency feared public alarm sparked by the apocalyptic scenarios, while others believe it contained information related to secret government research. Conspiracy theorists have long suggested the CIA aimed to suppress knowledge about global existential risks.

Partial declassification occurred in 2013, but the complete text became publicly accessible only in recent years, fueling renewed interest in Thomas’ hypotheses.

Scientific Discrediting of the Claims

While the book intrigues some conspiracy followers, experts largely reject its interpretations. Martin Mlynczak, a researcher at NASA, dismissed the claims, stating:

“Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And there’s no proof, no science, and no physics behind any of the claims about the magnetic field change being associated with climate change.”

NASA further confirms that historic magnetic pole reversals did not trigger climatic changes or global disasters. Alan Buis from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory noted:
“There’s no evidence that Earth’s climate has been significantly impacted by the last three magnetic field excursions, nor by any excursion event within at least the last 2.8 million years.”

The immense energy required to cause the crustal movements described by Thomas is beyond any known natural process.

Ongoing Public Fascination

Despite scientific dismissal, The Adam and Eve Story remains popular among those fascinated by apocalypse theories and secretive government actions. The CIA’s involvement adds intrigue, inviting speculation about concealed realities and suppressed information.

Thomas’ vivid storytelling, intertwined with ancient mythologies, attracts readers captivated by mysteries. Whether viewed as a cautionary myth, pseudoscientific speculation, or relic of Cold War fears, the book’s revival has reopened discussions about humanity’s susceptibility to cosmic events.

The release of The Adam and Eve Story offers a unique glance into a blend of speculative science and narrative that blurs lines between reality and imagination.
