SpaceX is advancing its mission to expand internet access worldwide with the launch of its new Performance antenna. Targeted at professional users, this antenna significantly boosts speeds, surpassing 400 Mb/s, a marked improvement over the usual 250-300 Mb/s speeds offered by the standard Starlink antennas. This upgrade represents a major step forward in connecting even the most isolated regions across the globe.
Larger Antenna, Enhanced Connectivity
The Performance antenna closely resembles existing Starlink models but features a substantially bigger surface area. This larger size improves signal strength and allows for much higher data transmission rates, making it ideal for users needing robust connectivity in remote locations. Professionals operating in demanding fields such as ocean navigation or scientific outposts benefit greatly from this enhanced performance.
Unlike earlier models, the antenna does not come with an integrated Wi-Fi router. Instead, it requires connection to a Starlink router or third-party router via Ethernet, offering users greater customization options but requiring a more involved setup process.

The power supply for the antenna supports input from a wide voltage range, accepting both standard 100 to 240 V AC outlets and 12 to 56 V DC sources. This versatility makes it suitable for use in off-grid settings and locations with diverse power infrastructure setups.
Rugged Construction for Challenging Conditions
Constructed from durable aluminum, the antenna is designed to operate reliably under harsh environmental conditions. Starlink confirms that the Performance variant complies with an IP69 rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water ingress. Its operating temperature range of -40 to 60 °C supports deployment from arctic tundras to scorching deserts.
The included power supply can also be rack-mounted, accommodating business and industrial setups. Although the official price for the Performance antenna is still pending, the High Performance version is available at a discounted rate of €1,191, down from €2,390, suggesting the new model will be similarly priced.

This premium antenna is particularly suited for enterprises requiring high-bandwidth satellite internet, including cruise lines and operators responsible for remote facilities. As SpaceX continually enhances its technology, satellite internet is poised to deliver dependable, fast connectivity to regions underserved by traditional broadband.
